This is of course an example, to show that you can have multiple backgrounds on the same page, as well as having a variable background depending on the browser, you would have to set it dynamically on window.onload.

The cyclic effect of adenosine was examined in cat atrial muscle preparations stimulated by constant-rate electrical pulses. Adenosine depressed the amplitude of the twitch tension without changing the rate of rise or rate of decline of the twitch. Adenosine shortened the action potential and caused spike activity in most cells. Thus, adenosine could depress the contractile function of the atria indirectly by prolonging the action potential. This interpretation was confirmed in experiments in which adenosine was administered during the tonic phase of electrically stimulated atrial contractions.
